Dear friends,

in a ridiculous attempt to keep the Guild alive, I decided to contribute (again) with an entry. And this is a most joyous occasion, since after months of being apart, Dr. Jackie and I are together again, in Switzerland. This also means that the brewing operations will commence again soon. My new job kindly will ship all my stuff over, including the brewing equipment. I need to find suppliers of malts, yeasts, hops, etc, buy a stove and some fittings, and then we should be in business. 

Anybody brewing or thinking about beer?!?

Hello colleagues, 

looking forward to seeing you all in a few weeks, I've been thinking about beer a fair bit. A couple of weeks ago I had an intense brewing weekend (after a long hiatus) and I made about 90 liters. Other than that, I can't wait to have some european beer in july. 

anybody else doing anything? should we cancel this website?

Interesting encounter

Dear colleagues,

as usual, nobody seems to come on this website. I continue with my deluded attempt to keep it alive, reporting in interesting beer-related instance that occurred to me on my flight back from switzerland (Donna Jackie just moved there). 

I started chatting with the guy sitting next to me, and he told me he was going to a food show, because he is an exporter. "Exporter of what?" I say. "Beer" he says. "What beer?". "Chimay".

Holy shit. 

More beer

As part of the Aliquot renaissance, we brewed more beer last night. again using leftover grains, hops and recycled yeast. The closest style to this beer should be an alt bier, but there s a lot more roasted barley than there should be. oh well, still, 30 liters of bad-ish homebrew beats the heck out of 120$ of bad store bought crap. 

is anybody else brewing? I guess not.

Dottoressa Tesoro

after brew day in canada, a new beer has been made at Aliquot. it's called Dottoressa Tesoro, to honour the CFO of Aliquot, Dr. J-bizzle, who successfully defended her thesis last monday. Now officially the guild is composed entirely of PhDs.

Dear Colleagues,

after a long, shameful hiatus, we resumed production. In a 9 hour brewing day, we joined forces with Flathead Brewery and got brewing. Thanks to their facilities, allowing for 52l batches, we made a total of 100l of beer, which is more than 10l/h. Great success. The product of our labor should come just in time for Christmas, hopefully curbing the cost of keeping lubricated over the holidays.

Beervestigation in eastern europe

Dear colleagues,

BBB CEO and Brewmistress have been extensively investigating the underground brewing scene in Budapest for the last couple of months, and are ready to report some preliminary data. First of all, eastern europeans have much to learn of microbrewing, especially regarding wheat beer production, which are mostly disgusting. Overall though, the quality is decent, but our judgement might be slightly biased due to the ridiculously low prices. Happy hour, 1 liter of lager for around 2 euros. Crazy shit.

Collaborative project

Dear Colleagues,

with considerable delay, I finally describe the beer we made here in Calgary when BBB came for a visit. After days of debate and planning, we came up with an appropriate project: ShaganappIPA. The recipe was based on BBB world-renowned IPA, but with a twist. Hibiscus flowers. Letting aside some discussion on the use of american vs european hops (here at aliquot we're a little europe-centric, as odd as it might sound) and some technical errors on my part, the brewing was a great success.

After a long, shameful hiatus, we came back at full force. With the crucial contribution of Donna Jackie, we brewed 3 beers (for a grand total of 70l) in one day. Besides being our brewery record, this endevour will also put an end to the massive purchasing of expensive, flavourless, disgusting, commercial beer. It easy to imagine that one or two local competitors will go out of business without our money.

BBB becomes BBBB

Dear guild members,

This is an official pressrelease to inform the members of the guild that the headquarters of BBB is moving in June, thereby becoming BBB Budapest (BBBB).

Initally BBBB will focus on exploring the beer market in the city, so that the rest of guild members can get an extraordinary beer experience when visiting. Tál!
